Tonight's the night. Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, is set to make its closest pass with the Earth in 59 years as we travel between it and the sun. At its closest point, Jupiter will be 367 million miles from Earth.

Jupiter will be visible as a very bright light in the nights sky as it rises above the eastern horizon just as the sun sets. It will take all night to track across the celestial dome, before setting in the west at dawn.

Had a good look whilst walking the dog last night very bright and very clear with only the slightest twinkle.

There was another bright object in the sky last night at 9pm it was to the north mid sky, looked like another planet but might have been something else.

To cloudy down here too

From Jupiter if you look appropriately 4 fist widths south (to the right of Jupiter) there’s Saturn.

Lovely bright light in the sky up here last night, brightest thing i have seen up there apart from the moon and sun

There is a fre Phone App called Stellarium.
You point it into the sky and it identifies objects for you. it shows a picture of where you point the phone with little labels for each object.
It's rather good for those casual observers like me.
