It seems not that old.
The world's oldest privately owned railway operates in the grounds of a
private school near Malvern Worcestershire . It is used to help train young people in railway engineering, engineering in general, woodwork, metalwork and associated crafts. The railway is largely operated by the young people "The School Kids!!!"
Just look at this video! This kid isn't long out of nappies.

See what you mean CT i would think that an independent body would have to certify that boiler on the train though.

My wife is an independent body and I can't find anybody to certify the old boiler
Back to subject, they have to buy all the safety clothing. They seem pretty strict.

Yes, you have to have the boiler inspected and a certificate given. That's why I just stick to battery operated loco's on ours! LOL
